Longboat key

Hilton Longboat Key Beachfront Resort is located on Longboat Key, a barrier island off the coast of Sarasota. Located between the waters of the Gulf of Mexico and Sarasota Bay. Located approximately 60 miles south of Tampa, easily accessible by car or by air. Interstate 75 and US 41 (Tamiami Trail) are the major routes into the area. Longboat Key can be reached by bridge from either end of the island.

The area is appreciated by wildlife as well, so these waters are home to manatee, dolphins, and fish, while pelicans, osprey, and a variety of shorebirds find sanctuary here. Tennis and golf enthusiasts will find first-class facilities here, and there are several parks on the key to visit for a relaxing afternoon.

Activities

Longboat Key is a boater’s paradise. Whether you already have your own craft or need to buy or rent one here, it just doesn’t get much better than heading out to enjoy the gentle waters of Sarasota Bay or the breathtakingly beautiful Gulf of Mexico. Local marinas will store your boat, and you can pull in for a meal at our waterside restaurants that provide water access. Some area resorts provide private docks and complimentary boat rentals, and two nearby businesses offer charter sailing services.

For those who would like some exercise and adventure while they explore the local waters, kayaks can be rented on the key. The Bay provides calmer waters that make for a great day of water-skiing, wakeboarding, or tubing, and fishing is great all around the key. Parasailing, scuba, and jet ski rentals are available nearby.

Fishing from a pier, from the white sand beaches, or from aboard ship…anyway you like it, it’s good fishing on Longboat Key. Try your hand in the shallow waters, wading in with the shorebirds. Or get onboard and work your way around the key to enjoy a variety of fishing experiences, from the grass flats around the sister keys in the bay looking for redfish, snook, and speckled trout to the Gulf surf looking for trout, flounder, grouper, and sheepshead.

Shopping is a pleasure at Longboat Key shops. Whether you’re looking for high fashion clothing and jewelry boutiques or casual beachwear, you can find it here on Longboat Key.

Three main shopping centers are located on the island: Whitney Beach Shopping Plaza, The Centre Shops of Longboat Key, and Avenue of the Flowers Shopping Plaza. Also, St. Armands Circle—famous for its first rate shops and boutiques—is adjacent to Longboat Key on the South.

You can shop for groceries and wine, baked goods or deli items here on the key. We also have a hardware store and pharmacy, as well as skin, nail, and hair salons. You can probably find whatever you need here on Longboat Key.

Longboat Key offers a long list of restaurants to satisfy virtually every appetite and taste, without ever having to leave the island.
